What are the possible outcomes of a PediPRN phone consultation?
The following actions may result from the telephone consultation. The PediPRN psychiatrist may:
- be able to answer the primary care clinician’s question over the telephone
- need to see the patient for a face-to-face evaluation in order to answer the primary care clinician’s question
- refer the primary care clinician to the care coordinator for information about resources in the community or
- recommend that the patient see the PediPRN therapist for evaluation and/or interim treatment.
What information will I need to provide when I call?
The physician’s name, title and name of practice, telephone and fax numbers; patient demographics including full name and spelling, date of birth and insurance coverage. Please include a brief description of the reason for the call.
We understand that giving patient demographic information in the initial call can be time consuming and take time out of your practice, only to be followed by another call from our psychiatrists immediately after or at a scheduled time. Know that you may ask support staff in your offices to place the initial call to provide the patient’s basic information. See a list of needed information for the PediPRN call.
